About

We listen, act, and transform

I was born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon, before earning my B.A. from the American University of Beirut (AUB) and my Masters in International Affairs from the Lebanese American University (LAU). I worked at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on Governance in the Arab Region from 2005-2011 as well as Carnegie Endowment for a short period of time. immigrated to the US in 2011 where I held a job at the World Bank/ IFC Group in Knowledge Management. Before deciding to go back to school and change careers graduating from George Mason University here in Virginia with a Masters in Social Work, Clinical track. I worked as a supervisee under sex therapist and AASECT Supervisor at Tamara Pincus and Associates. I completed my LICSW (Washington DC), LCSW (Virginia) and AASECT supervisee in Sex Therapy. My experience has helped me provide care for LBGTQIA+ community members, Kink folk, Polyamorous and Ethically Non-Monogamous folks (Individuals and diads or more), BIPOC patients, trauma survivors, and anyone looking to find ways of transforming pain to live fulfilling lives. I also completed the Infant Observation 2 year Program at the Washington School of Psychiatry. I have experience providing therapy from a curious and open-minded perspective to individuals, couples and groups from a variety of backgrounds. My job is to help you find your truth and build a better life true to your sense of self. I strive to make every client feel safe and accepted as they are. I have worked with diverse adults from cultural adjustments, women and families fleeing domestic abuse to active duty members and veterans. I am driven by a passion to support folks with multiple marginalized identities in utilizing their voices to advocate for better access to services and resources within their communities. I’m trilingual, fluent in Arabic, French, and English. Having been raised abroad, I am very interested in cross-cultural challenges. Some issues I have worked with in the past include trauma, anxiety, combat/ post-traumatic stress disorder, grief and loss, life transitions, substance abuse, relationship challenges, and more. I try to focus on integrating social justice and mental health with attention to individual, socio-political, and historical processes. I am also interested in working with people who are exploring non-traditional relationships, navigating sexual orientation and gender issues (LGBTQ+). Together, you and I will explore your concerns at your pace and try to get more clarity. I work with individuals and how they view themselves, others, and their world. I believe that we all strive to be more authentic in our lives but sometimes get lost along the way. I am committed to working with you to foster greater insight and improve your agency in your life. I also collaborate with people in relationships to help them reconnect and communicate better. Through our therapeutic alliance, we will create fertile grounds for growth and self-awareness. I am not afraid to ask for your feedback as we are on this journey together. I want you to feel seen, heard, and not alone. I also believe that I have as much to learn from you as you have from me and not immune to making mistakes. I have worked in a domestic violence shelter, as well as in a military co-occurring partial hospitalization clinic treating dual diagnosis; substance abuse, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, relationship difficulties, among other issues. I am regularly engaged in trainings, supervision, and continued education. I look forward to working with you.
